African Nite 2009…ENIJE! (Celebration)

February 19th, 2009

Courtesy of ASO

Over the years, African Night has brought the Michigan Tech community a taste of the diversity that African culture has to offer through food and exhilarating displays of dance, drama and poetry.

The African Students Organization invites you to a buffet-style dinner at 6-7.30pm in the MUB Ballroom followed by a performance at 8pm in the Rozsa Center this February 28. At the dinner, you will have the chance to indulge in dishes that capture the continent’s varied flavors, ranging from keftas, peri-peri chicken, coconut-flavored rice (vegetarian and non vegetarian), fried plantains, and an Ethiopian vegetable stew. Dances from South Africa, Central and West Africa, drumming from Ghana as well as a fashion show, woven together by a light-hearted story, introduce the main act: the Detroit School of Fine and Performing Arts Dance Ensemble. These performances echo the night’s theme, Enije, Ghanian for celebration, as they relate the highs of everyday living and African history.

Night of Exquisite African Cuisine and Culture Extravaganza.

Featuring:
The Detroit School of Fine & Performing Arts & Dance Ensemble

Dinner: 6:00-7:30PM MUB Ballroom
Performance: 8-10PM Rozsa Center

Tickets:
Students : $10
Faculty & General Public: $15
Tickets Available on the Rozsa Webiste and Office, Wads front Desk and MUB Commons

All international students and their family, I Club and I House members are invited to the International Student Ski Day at Mont Ripley. Equipment rental and ski instructions will be offered at a discounted price. Snacks and hot tea will be provided in a private warming room that has a fireplace (very nice). Hot chocolate, soup, hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. can be purchased at the main lodge.

Mont Ripley offers high-quality instruction for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Lessons are important. They teach safety techniques that make skiing and snowboarding more fun! Lessons will be taught at 11:00 am or 1:00 pm.

Lesson and equipment rental fees are per person.

* $10 for skis or snowboard rental (includes boots and poles)
* $5 for ski lesson
* $10 for lift ticket (non-Michigan Tech student)
Note: lift tickets are FREE for Michigan Tech students

Students may sign up at the IPS Office until 4:00pm, Thursday, February 19. The $10 per person equipment rental fee must be paid at IPS and is non-refundable after February 19. The lesson fee and/or lift ticket fee (non-Michigan Tech students) must be paid at Mont Ripley on the day of the event. The following information must be included for each person you register:
